Subject: Survey: Child care at risk
An article by Dana Hull, S.J. Mercury (8/9/06) reporting a survey
released
Tuesday by First 5 California found that low salaries, high turnover
rates and an aging workforce threaten the availability and quality of
child care in the state.
First 5 California was responsible for the roundly defeated measure
calling for Universal Preschool on June ballot. With that defeat by the
voters of California, notice the rhetoric switching frame of reference
from preschool to day care. It is the same old agenda wrapped in
different emphasis utilizing the philosophy of "whatever will work" to
achieve the objective of access and control of pre kindergarten
children’s lives by the state.
